Akbank "Economy’s Little Heroes" — a gamified financial-literacy web experience that teaches children how to manage pocket money, save and give, in service of long-term financial habits.
Brief
On the Akbank website we built, the children who are the future become "the heroes of the economy". Through questions and educational content the site teaches them at the same time as it entertains them, applying the lasting power of learning by playing. We mixed teaching themes — spending the pocket money the right way, giving to others, saving — into one site, with the explicit goal of helping kids take their first steps toward thrift and financial self-management. To carry Akbank’s financial-literacy vision to the child without sliding into banking jargon, and without letting the educational tone harden into a school lesson, the design language leans on character illustrations, warm colour and gamified mission cards. Children move through giving, saving and sharing choices through a small on-screen avatar, see the consequence of each decision, and unlock bonus activities they can play through together with their family.
