Sözcü E-Newspaper mobile app — turning the newspaper’s daily edition, columnists and breaking news into a mobile reading experience that crossed one million users in its first month.
Brief
The Sözcü E-Newspaper app we built for one of Turkey’s leading news brands gives readers a single mobile surface for the daily edition, the columnists and breaking news. We designed the UI and UX around the actual daily habits of the audience, with type choices, line height and contrast tuned so a long-time print reader feels the same comfort on screen. Columnists, headlines and breaking-news streams live in their own tabs, and the reader can customise the feed by topic interest, while notifications can be tuned to breaking news, to a favourite columnist, or both. In its first month after launch the app crossed one million users — the launch target — and Sözcü gained a direct, owned mobile channel into its readership, no longer dependent on social-platform reach.
